Description
This head is designed as a short shank casting head. The 60° line tie and teardrop head design keep good bottom contact throughout the retrieve.
We wanted a jig head we could use with 2″, 2″ 1/2, and 3″ tube jigs in appropriate weights for almost any application and a good, stout hook that could hold up to anything we want to catch. We chose the Gamakatsu, medium wire, 2/0 hook.
Our guides have tested this hook and have caught everything from 40-inch lake trout, Largemouth bass, and Pike, down to river Brown trout and stocker Rainbows with fantastic results!
Tools For Success:
Suggested Equipment:
- Rod: Light to Medium Power Rod with Fast Action. This rod style offers precise control over lure action and the strength to reel in your catches, while its fast action enhances sensitivity for detecting light bites.
- Line: 6-10 lb Fluorocarbon Line or 10-20 lb Braided Line with a 6-10 lb Fluorocarbon leader.
Hookset:
- Hook Point: Needle Point This hook has an ultra-sharp needle-point tip, but we recommend a strong hookset to push the barb past the bony structure of the fish’s mouth.
*These recommendations are tailored to the weight, style, hook point, and target freshwater species these jigs were designed for. Use them as a starting guide and fine-tune as you get a feel for how the jig performs.
