As seasoned anglers, we’ve discovered that the terms “pro, guides, etc.” can inadvertently create a divide between us and our fellow anglers. We both share our perspectives on why we prefer to be seen simply as anglers and fishermen, emphasizing a sense of camaraderie rather than hierarchy.
Throughout the episode, we reflect on how the label “pro” introduces an additional layer of expectations and pressure. Beyond being skilled anglers, there’s an unspoken assumption to excel in various roles – from fisherman to photographer, content creator, and more. We open up about the challenges and expectations that come with these titles, shedding light on the realities behind the scenes.
As we stated at the beginning of this episode, we are not trying to disrespect anyone who does use the pro term in fishing, we are simply stating why we don’t prefer to use it when talking about ourselves.
