Welcome to Episode 14 of the Level Up Fishing Podcast, where we discuss a topic close to our hearts: “Pros, Guides, & Fishermen.” In this candid conversation, we aim to break stereotypes and help our fellow anglers understand why we don’t prefer to use the conventional title of “fishing pros.”
As seasoned anglers, we’ve discovered that the terms “pro, guides, etc.” can inadvertently create a divide between us and our fellow anglers. We both share our perspectives on why we prefer to be seen simply as anglers and fishermen, emphasizing a sense of camaraderie rather than hierarchy.
Throughout the episode, we reflect on how the label “pro” introduces an additional layer of expectations and pressure. Beyond being skilled anglers, there’s an unspoken assumption to excel in various roles – from fisherman to photographer, content creator, and more. We open up about the challenges and expectations that come with these titles, shedding light on the realities behind the scenes.
As we stated at the beginning of this episode, we are not trying to disrespect anyone who does use the pro term in fishing, we are simply stating why we don’t prefer to use it when talking about ourselves.
Our goal has always been to support anglers at every level, and by sharing our experiences and perspectives, we aim to break down barriers and foster a more inclusive fishing community. So, whether you’re a seasoned pro or a weekend warrior, join us for this candid conversation that removes titles and celebrates the shared passion that unites us all – the love of fishing.
